Too much iPhone -_-

jesusphone

It seems like everyone is posting news about one things, all the time… and thats the iPhone.

Even though its been out for so long now, still about 80% of my news feeds are filled with iPhone crap about apps, and tips, or tricks and hacks, tethering pwnage app, fart apps etc…

I know it must be awesome for the people who have iPhones, but the thing about the sites reporting news about iPhone apps especially, is that NOT EVERYONE HAS AN iPHONE. And I know some people reading this are going to think I and just jealous that I don’t have an iPhone, or that those sites are targeted towards people that actually have iPhones, or some hate like that. Well, to that I say, hey, maybe I am jealous, or I shouldn’t be visiting those sites, SO WHAT?

I know I must not be the only person tired of seeing endless news posts about the latest rejected iPhone app, or how to do X, Y, and Z, with your iPhone. I’m sorry if i offended anyone in anyway, I just wanted to get my opinion out there on all this iPhone news thats, in my opinion, clogging up the tubes for real tech news.

Big Dreams, Little Blogs

thinking-cartoon

Well, everyone has big dreams, and so do little blogs. After giving up this blog, again, for a period of time, I decided to return to blogging. I feel that I have lost my way a little bit, I had a definite plan set out, but I guess the hard part of it is following through.

The point of this is that after being a huge fan of pretty much all the big technology blogs, like Gizmodo, Engadget, TechCrunch, Wired, and also of podcasts such as TWiT, I felt that I had a chance of maybe rising up and being one of the top eventually…  Just like everyone else in this position, theres always the thought that there are so many people wanting to be the next huge blog, that it seems impossible, from down here at the bottom of the blogosphere.

There are just so many people looking up just admiring the shining idols at the top, wishing that they can make it up there someday too, me alongside them.

-Is it possible now for a single independent little startup blog to make it into the spotlight by itself?

What the Hell Youtube?

Ok I have a youtube video, where I show how to make an iPod dock, its pretty crappy and stuff, all I do is make an iPod dock out of some stuff you can find laying around. AND YOUTUBE BLOCKED OUT MY AUDIO JUST BECAUSE OF MY BACKGROUND MUSIC -_-. (If you don’t know youtube recently began a new policy of removing the audio track of a video if there is even any TRACE of copyrighted video.) (and of course they haven’t gotten everyone…yet)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oiWrK-rr0nc

What the hell? Youtube?

First of all, the background music was BARELY audible.

Second of all, it wasn’t even something that probably 1 out of 10 people would notice.

It wasn’t the main reason for the video.

Now I’m forced to change this. And don’t get me wrong, its not because I have to spend a minute now changing the audio track, that I’m annoyed about. It’s that it seems like the RIAA, and the MPAA are trying to copyright EVERY LITTLE THING POSSIBLE, all in order to make MORE MONEY. No one cares about the consumers anymore, and who makes the world go round? Its EVERYDAY PEOPLE, working class consumers. This ISN’T RIGHT, and this has been affecting a lot a people now, and some people are even getting the same done to them if, for example, the radio was playing in the background of the video. The RIAA and MPAA’s copyrighting rampage has gone fairly UNOPPOSED, so we need to make people aware of this issue, before they gain enough momentum that they can’t be stopped.

-If you are a blogger and has had this happen to you, write about it. Blogs are numerous, and our strength is in numbers.

Heres the email:

Steve Jobs Leaving Apple

Steve Jobs is leaving apple for a few months, until June. (When the iPhone nano is rumored to be coming) Hmmm

Windows 7 vs Mac OSX 10.6

After trying out the beta of Windows 7, I am really considering switching BACK to using windows. I switched from Windows XP to OSX about 3 years ago, but the user experience, and the overall smoothness of even the beta of windows 7 seems to be a huge leap for Microsoft. That along with the knowledge that that next version of OSX, Snow Leopard, is not going to have many new features, is starting to push me back towards the realm of PCs.

Impress a Friend with Netstat

proud

Whether your on Windows, Mac or Linux, there is something called the command line, where basically its a screen where you enter words and cool geeky stuff happens. If you were amazed when you local tech guy came by and fixed you computer by typing a few commands this is the thing for you.

Go into your command line, for windows its the command prompt, Mac and Linux, the terminal, and type netstat. Voila! now you have a list of information about your network, and whether you understand it or not, it looks like you know what your doing. =)

This command can also be very useful sometimes when you need to diagnose a problem on your network, but then you need to learn what all those words mean.

-As a side note, if you want something that looks cooler, type ping and the the name of any website, and you will get continuous messages that make you look like a computing master. (well to non-computer literate people at least) This command can also be used to test whether a website is down for just you, or for everyone.

The Economy and Blogs

well it seems like in the worst days of the economy, is when my blog gets the more views.

and i know I haven’t been keeping up with blog posts, but I’ve lost motivation (again… -.-)

Steve Jobs Health: Just deploying the Reality Distortion Field Again?

steve_rdf1

Today, Steve Jobs, CEO of Apple, who has recently been rumored to have been failing rapidly in his health, issued a letter reaffirming the public of his health status. The letter at face value seems to quell the fears of Steve’s death, but reading into it, the letter might just be another one of Job’s genius RDF’s (Reality Distortion Field) again. According to Wired Science, Job’s symptoms described in the letter “just doesn’t add up” although it could very well be that the list is incomplete. This letter could easily be a tool to shield Apple from a potentially devastating blow to their stock, as the economy is already in a disaster, and historically, Apple stock declines in the weeks after Macworld.

Are we again drinking Apple/Steve Jobs’ Kool-Aid?

Learning Unix

like the title said, I’ve taken up learning Unix, and I’ve already got the prefect tools to work with. A macbook pro triple booting OSX, Ubuntu Linux, and Windows XP.

If anyone is interested themselves in taking up Unix, there’s a great tutorial that is really helpful at: http://www.ee.surrey.ac.uk/Teaching/Unix/

-and if you just want to get a general not too in depth feel of Unix, but still learn enough to play around nicely in the Terminal (the unix command line) there’s a quick guide at: http://freeengineer.org/learnUNIXin10minutes.html

and these are purely recommendations, as I’m sure anyone reading this is clear, that this little blog does not have a sponsor.
